A Rooster Party! Now That's Something To Chirp About

Welcome to roosters gone wild in my home...for now, we'll just call it a party! They truly rule the roost in my ol' decorating heart. Don't you think they are the friendliest of the birds you can decorate with? They just make me want to bake a pie, crack an egg and fold some sheets...yep, they are a bird that is gonna make ya happy.

Thank you to Barb from the wonderful Bella Vista blog for hosting this fun~er than fun Rooster Party...she said ~ show us your roosters...and I am happy to oblige and then some.

The only thing I love as much as the shape of a house...is the image of a rooster...

Rooster pillows fill this home...and buckwheat hulls fill this rooster pillow...

They are everywhere...even on a tea pot...

Yes....everywhere...ring~a~ling!

My love affair with these fine feathered friends is quite extreme...

Even this pincushion was not complete without a rooster button...

If you read my blog...then you know this fellow and I are sewn together at the hip...
Love, love this guy...and every rooster needs a red gingham bow...right?

At attention on the front porch...

They look like they are singing high on this shelf...

More rooster pillow obsession...
Roosters and handwriting...does it get any better than that...

A swell grouping...

Someones got to tend to the eggs...

Intense conversation...

More egg tending by a boy chicken...

Thank you for spending a bit of this fun party in my neck of the blog~land.

Barb...thank you for hosting this rooster~a~rama of a party!

Distressing Diva ~ Gotta Be Hooked!

I am not a diva...not by any means of the imagination...not by a long shot, no way, no how...however, while strolling 'round the ol' home~ola this afternoon, thinking about what I am hooked on...it occurred to me that I have distressed so many items that I must be hooked...in fact...I must be a diva...a distressing diva.
Thanks to Julia, our very own diva of houses and a gal we are all hooked on, for another fun Friday get~together!
Take a peek at the wares in our house that have fallen victim to my sand paper, crackle finished, stained and pickled diva distressing ways...
Sand paper~ed gone wild...
{truth be told ~ I bought this bird house already distressed to it's current
wonderful ~ wonderful~ness}

Weathered and worn...looks like it has a story to tell...

I want to marry crackle medium...

Sanding them corners is so much more fun than folding laundry...

Worn out...enough said...

Crackling...it is quite fun...

I think that this is probably a "poor crackle technique"...but remember...
I am a distressing diva...and I don't care!

I painted and crackled and sanded and stained this old dinning set years ago
and it is one of my all~time favorite projects...
Sanded wood with yellow paint showing through...be still my heart!

When my husband said that this piece looks like a saw~horse
and belongs in a barn...my heart sang!!!!
Even the teeniest bit of sanding makes me smile...
So here are the fact~o~ramas ~
Sand Paper or Wall Paper......SAND PAPER
Bottle of Crackle Medium or Bottle of Nail Polish.......BOTTLE OF CRACKLE MEDIUM
Stained and Antiqued or Shiny Finish......WHAT DO YOU THINK!
Pop on back over to Hooked on Houses for more Hooked on Friday fun...
And now...there is a chair in the other room that has a date with some sand paper.

Stainless Steel~ing My Heart Away On A Summer Day

Happy, happy is the summer afternoon when you have a project that you have been dreaming about for weeks and the time has come to see if is as great in real life as it is in your decorating imagination.

So today...I took the leap...armed with two cans of stainless steel spray paint and that giddy feeling that overwhelms you when you are going to try something that you really don't know if you will like or more importantly...if the family will like...but...you have an feeling that you will...and I DID!

Been wanting to paint something with silver metallic paint for some time now and since our kitchen is filled with stainless steel appliances...I decided to let the little wooden rolling island cart thing join the party...and as I always say ~ "It is only paint...if you don't like it...re~paint it!" CHA, CHA, CHA!

Partners in crime...

Cart in my stainless steel decorating dreams...

Took the leap...

Painted, distressed {to within an inch of it's life}...of course and stained...

What do you think?

My pig is happy...
...and so am I...
Don't you just love it when a project turns out the way you imagined?
Tomorrow...I think I will paint the rest of the cart...

A Tool Box Isn't Just For Tools Anymore

There are so many uses for everyday items...and to me...the older, rustier,
more faded and distressed...the better.
Let me show you some items that may have begun their journey intended
for one use...but then I got a hold of them and...
well...take a peek~a~loo at some goodies that have found new and different life in our home.

This is one of my favorite things in the kitchen...

My family wouldn't know what to do if I put silverware in a drawer...
I added a couple of wooden needle, spindle~y things...just cuz...

There is an old rusty, paint~peel~y ladder that I use as a pot rack under
all of those pots and baskets...
Used to be a headboard...

Now it's a bench...

Doll houses are not just for dolls....not in my neck of the woods...

The clock in~nerds are long gone...

But this piece is timeless in my book...

Rooster~loving dish towels...
Are now a couple of my favorite pillows...

This old window hangs above the tub in the bathroom...
Great storage for every basket I have ever owned and then some...
I am really starting to get in the autumn mood...I have decided to not buy any
new fall decor...but instead re~purpose and re~use all the stuff~ola I have gleaned over the years into new and interesting seasonal goodies...with all my coloring outside the lines and decorating shenanigans...it is a good thing my family loves me...odd silverware holder and all...what can I say...it is just fun~ner to decorate this way!

More Dog~Days Of Summer

We are now "officially" in the dog~days of summer and I am "officially" appreciating every hot, dry, gorgeous sunset, late~night, no~homework, pie baking, barbecuing, dog walking, no schedule moment of it...AMEN!
Just thought I would share some dog~day summer
moments captured this past weekend...
Somewhere there is a guy who is wearing a tennis ball for a shoe...

My summer girls enjoying a family picnic at the park...
Twelve years separate these two..I love my girls...

The picnic is over...but Lainie Day is enjoying the sunset...
Have a wonderful week!

I Think Summer Might Be Yawning...

Truly...I think I am seeing summer yawn...just a bit...I know that we have several weeks of this glorious season left...I'm just saying...I think have seen summer yawn a bit...here and there.

Take a peek at what was peeking back at me this day...
Mildly spent hydrangeas...

A Halloween spider in the making...

See those red leaves? Summer Yawning! Shhhhhh....

I did hang a sweet summer plate sent to me by a sweetie pie
also known as Ms. Tee from Delightful Home blog fame...

It is so fun to add a little something new in the middle of a season...
So fun! Just like her blog...

This bad boy was in the produce isle of the grocery store yesterday...
I couldn't help myself...I actually looked around for more gourds!!!

I really couldn't help myself...

I know that summer is barely yawning and not stretching...but who can
resist a harvest~ly treat?

I couldn't resist!

It is so funny...I found myself yawning several times while writing this post...
These simple winks of summer leaning toward fall just remind me how precious these warm days are...and it is fun to play around with harvest~y goodies knowing full well
summer is only yawning a bit and not stretching and rolling over into autumn...not quite yet!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone...
